  1. New Pride and Prejudice course starting at Newton Community Education at Newton North High School – four 2 1/4 hour sessions, begins Thursday July 6.

    Course title: Pride and Prejudice: Character and Conflict (with a focus on the process of transformation and awakening of both Darcy and Elizabeth). Class will include in-depth discussion of the text, historical background, and viewing clips of key scenes (such as the proposal scenes) from four different film adaptations of P&P.

    Instructor Tracy Marks has an M.A. from Tufts in the teaching of secondary English. She has been a continuing education instructor of literature and creative writing courses for 41 years, is a licensed psychotherapist, is author of four books translated into nine languages, and has conducted a Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice tour of England. She is currently completing the second draft of her novel, The Awakening of Darcy and Elizabeth.

    Note: As of June 23, the course needs only one more student in order to run. Please register by June 30. This will be both a highly enjoyable and highly informative course!
